New Policy Threatens to Shutter Local Shelters
Ramon Rosado is worried about the fate of the Ethical Culture Society’s homeless shelter.

“Once a week, six homeless men referred from the Living Room, a dropin center in Hunts Point, call the Riverdale- Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture’s Fieldston meeting house their home. On three other nights they can rest their heads at the Kingsbridge Heights Community Center.
“The two local hosts are part of a network of mostly faith-based organizations, called the emergency overnight shelter system, that currently offers about 270 beds citywide.
“But that network is about to change, and not everyone is convinced the change is for the better…”
